In your role as a Purchaser at The North West Company (TNWC); you will procure fixtures and equipment for all company banners. In your role you will obtain fixture quotes, place orders, and assist with negotiations of all fixture procurement while adhering to budgetary requirements and guidelines.

Your Role:

  • Responsible for the procurement of fixtures and equipment for all NWC banners.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing for all fixtures and equipment; obtain quotations, issue purchase orders, and coordinate the scheduling of deliveries.
  • Manage logistics in collaboration with internal transportation networks, both domestically and internationally.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including Category Management, Food Specialists, Merchandise Planning, Pharmacy, and Information Systems—to coordinate and source equipment and accessories.
  • Support the Facilities and Maintenance team in the sourcing of parts and the management of equipment lifecycle replacement programs.
  • Ensure all fixtures and equipment purchases comply with the standards and specifications established by the Store Design team.


 Desired Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail fixture procurement, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Post-secondary education or University degree in a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an aptitude for negotiation, and building and maintaining business relationships both with internal customers and external vendors.
  • Experience working with retail design, construction and facility management would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to NWC standards and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as support peers, and work in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated with proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills.
