Grocery Department Head

Summary:
The Grocery Department Head is responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales area within the grocery department. They will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure all store operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Accountabilities and Expectations:
•             Greet customers and provide excellent customer service.
•             Respond to Cashier calls in a timely manner.
•             Ensure availability of shopping carts and hand baskets.
•             Maintain replenishment of assigned sales area.
•             Manage outposted items and ensure proper facings.
•             Responsible for ad preparation, set up, and take down.
•             Complete hole checks and address exceptions.
•             Communicate hot selling items to the Grocery Supervisor/Manager.
•             Have a daily recovery and maintenance program in place.
•             Inspect condition of coolers, bunkers, and refrigerated units.
•             Keep inventory levels in the stockroom to necessary product only.
•             Properly handle damaged, defective and returned products.
•             Perform cycle counts as required.
•             Operate machinery/equipment safely, report any hazards to the Store Manager/Owner.
•             Complete all required E-Learning programs.
•             Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Store Manager/Owner.
•             Be accountable for Best Sellers; in stock and merchandised in the best locations at the best times.
•             Be responsible for the merchandising and replenishment of their Department.
•             Maintain quality and controls for produce and code dated product.
•             Follow Loss Prevention procedures and guidelines to minimize shrink.

Education and Experience:
•             High school diploma or equivalent.
•             Minimum of 2 years of experience in grocery retail management.
•             Strong leadership and communication skills.
•             Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
•             Experience with inventory management and merchandising.
