Job Description: Food Service Clerk
Position Title: Food Service Clerk
Reports to: Store Manager, Food Service Manager, or Food Service Supervisor

Summary:
The Food Service Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining operational efficiency in the Food Service area. This role involves accurately processing transactions, preparing food according to safety guidelines, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting loss prevention initiatives. The Food Service Clerk is expected to adhere to company policies and foster a positive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
  • Provide high-level customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all customers.
  • Accurately process customer transactions using POS systems, ensuring the correct use of PLU and department numbers.
  • Engage in suggestive selling of value-added items as per company procedures.
  • Address customers politely, using "please," "thank you," and their first name when possible.
  • Adhere to the "Stop, Drop, and Serve" principle, prioritizing customer needs at all times.
  • Answer customer questions and address concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Process credit purchases, gift cards, refunds, and exchanges following company guidelines.
  • Understand and apply the scanning code of practice where applicable.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Food Service products.
2. Maintenance and Cleanliness:
  • Follow daily cleaning schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Ensure washrooms are cleaned and restocked at least every four hours.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and efficiency of the work area and surrounding environment.
3. Food Preparation:
  • Update the daily prep list before starting work.
  • Follow food safety guidelines when preparing both raw and cooked products.
  • Adhere to NWC or Food Service Platform (e.g., KFC, Pizza Hut, A&W, BK, and Proprietary) cooking and assembly procedures.
  • Maintain food safety checklists, waste reports, and cooking charts as directed by the Food Service Manager or Supervisor.
4. Loss Prevention:
  • Balance cash, credit, and debit transactions daily, ensuring no overages or shortages.
  • Maintain the security of cash and the work area at all times.
  • Accurately account for all register opening and closing activities.
  • Use “paid for” stickers for all staff purchases to ensure proper tracking.
  • Report any theft, whether internal (employee) or external (customer), immediately to the Food Service Manager or Supervisor.
5. Health and Safety:
  • Promote a safe workplace by actively following safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to handwashing policies and procedures at all times.
6. General Responsibilities:
  • Follow NWC or Food Service Platform uniform and hygiene standards consistently.
  • Promote teamwork by actively sharing the workload with fellow team members.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as requested by the Food Service Manager or Supervisor
