Position Title: Janitor
Reports to: Store Manager, Facilities Manager, or Maintenance Supervisor
Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the store. This role involves cleaning and maintaining various areas, including sales floors, restrooms, break rooms, and storage areas. The Janitor ensures a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees by adhering to cleaning schedules, safety protocols, and company guidelines. The Janitor is expected to work independently and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting of floors, fixtures, and surfaces throughout the store.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors; restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
• Empty trash bins and recycling containers throughout the store and dispose of waste in the appropriate receptacles.
• Clean and maintain break rooms, including wiping down tables, countertops, and appliances, and ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for employees.
• Ensure the cleanliness of entryways, windows, and glass doors to maintain a welcoming appearance.

2. Health and Safety:

• Follow safety guidelines and procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
• Identify and report any potential hazards, such as wet floors, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions, to the Maintenance Supervisor or Store Manager immediately.
• Adhere to proper cleaning protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.

3. Maintenance of Equipment:

• Properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and buffers, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Perform routine checks on cleaning equipment and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor or Store Manager.
• Ensure all cleaning tools and supplies are stored safely and securely after use.

4. General Responsibilities:

• Assist with special cleaning projects as directed by the Facilities Manager or Store Manager, such as deep cleaning, floor waxing, or seasonal tasks.
• Maintain open communication with management to report any issues or concerns related to the cleanliness and maintenance of the store.
• Follow company uniform and hygiene standards consistently.
• Support the store team by performing additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Store Manager.
